England against Pakistan is expected to include Jofra Archer next month
Since March 2023, the fiery pacer has not been in competition.
According to England’s managing director Rob Key, Jofra Archer may play again when England hosts Pakistan in a four-match Twenty20 International series next month.
This month marks Archer’s 29th birthday. Since withdrawing from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 because to elbow injury, he has not played professional cricket.
Despite having only played seven white-ball matches since 2021, the 29-year-old is regarded as one of England’s most valuable players since, in October 2023, the England Cricket Board (ECB) gave him a two-year central contract, demonstrating their confidence in him.
Key is optimistic that his side can rely on Archer as England defends their T20 World Cup title in the West Indies in June. The Barbados native skipped this year’s Indian Premier League in order for England to oversee his recuperation and ensure he was ready for action when it came time for him to represent his country.
Key said, “Absolutely,” to a question on whether Archer would be considered for the World Cup team from Sky Sports News. “Jofra has been in India for Sussex’s pre-season. He bowled pretty good and swiftly out there.
Key went on to say that Archer will probably play in the next four-match Twenty20 International series against Pakistan, which starts in Headingley on May 22.
In June, England will defend its T20 World Cup title in the West Indies, and Key is optimistic that his team can rely on Archer. In order to ensure that the Barbados-born player was at the top of his game for his country’s duty, England decided to oversee his rehabilitation rather than allow him to play in the IPL this year.
When asked if Archer is a possibility for the World Cup team, Key responded, “Absolutely,” to Sky Sports News. Johannesburg has been in India for Sussex’s pre-season. He was really fast and accurate with his bowling.
Then, Key said that Archer will probably participate in the upcoming four-match Twenty20 International series against Pakistan, which is scheduled to start in Headingley on May 22
“He just returned to the Caribbean, where he will play some club cricket and other games in an effort to prepare for the World T20. Hopefully, he will play in the Pakistan series. However, with Jofra, fingers crossed for the time being.”
Instead of attempting to move too quickly, we’re going to take our time and make sure that we get him back for an extended amount of time. Jofra’s entire strategy involves his playing white-ball cricket through the summer and into the winter.
“Hopefully, we’ll get him back for Test cricket next summer when we play India and then the Ashes.” The task of getting him back in all forms is arduous.”
