WATCH: Five Bangladesh fielders chase to stop boundaries in second Sri Lanka Test
In the series, the home team is up 1-0.
During the third day of the second Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at Chattogram, all five members of the Bangladeshi slip cordon coordinated their movements to chase a ball towards the boundary.
Sri Lanka broke a number of records when they batted first, scoring an incredible 531 in the opening innings. Bangladesh answered quickly, but the seamers from Sri Lanka kept up the pressure, taking wicket after wicket, as the hosts fell apart, going from 96-1 to 130-6 before being.
But in the second innings of Sri Lanka’s innings, Bangladesh rallied mightily, first reducing their opponents to 15-2 in the third over. They went on to take four more wickets in the latter part of the day, leaving the visitors with a 455-run lead at 102-6.
On the third day of play, a comical occurrence occurred on the field five overs before stumps. Hasan Mahmud’s back-of-length delivery was narrowly defeated by Prabath Jayasuriya through gully. Bangladesh attempted to stop the ball from crossing the boundary by running after it with four slips and a backward point in place.
Finally, the backward point fielder was able to slide to stop the ball from going any farther. The fielder who had ran from third slip received it from him after which, and he tossed it back to the wicketkeeper.
