Reacting to losing her position as Pakistan’s T20 captain, Shaheen Afridi

Babar Azam was appointed again.

Pacer Shaheen Afridi addressed his removal as Pakistan’s T20I skipper in a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). PCB, on the other hand, gave an explanation for the changes made to the white-ball leadership.

“The board understands the need for rotation and relaxation to keep Shaheen Afridi performing at his best, even if he has unquestionably established himself as a premier fast bowler and led Pakistan’s pace attack throughout the years. This choice is in accordance with the board’s dedication to preserving players’ longevity, particularly fast bowlers considering their recent history of injuries.”

This choice was made with workload management in mind in order to guarantee that Pakistan’s star bowlers continue to play at the highest level.

The board does not want the national men’s team to experience an injury issue related to bowling resources, as was the case before to the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022 (when Shaheen required special attention) and the ICC ODI Cricket World Cup in 2023 (where the team was without Naseem Shah’s services.”
